Somatic Focusing for Trauma

a four week course of 90 min live online weekly classes
A course for Focusers, new or experienced, for connecting with life forward movement in your body beyond trauma.
Some of us who hold trauma in our body may find that our body feels unavailable, silent, disconnected or even oversensitive when Focusing. That’s just our body and nervous system protecting us. With somatic healing practices you can support your focusing and empower your body to speak and connect with you.
It begins with slowing things down and reacquainting with the body through the senses. This helps the brain feel at home in the body again. Building this trust allows those parts of us to feel a sense of safety reinhabiting our body once more. A connection that was weakened or lost due to our past experiences. With time we can rewire this connection and feel our bodies as a safe space and resource once again.
At the heart of healing is a compassionate presence to self. Here we will be entirely at the stage of clearing space and engaging the body for a forming felt sense. Just your inner relationship first, without partnerships. No content is needed or necessary, just your presence to yourself in a way that feels safe for you. Your felt sense is in charge here. There will also be time for gentle integrative movement practice with my friend Andreanna who teaches Qi Gong. Invaluable we have found for the somatic healing of the brain and nervous system. The group is small, capped at eight, and no movement experience is needed. If your body says yes to all of this then listen to this rightness.
Your Facilitator and Companion
Hi, I’m Giselle, foremost a person also on their own healing journey, a dancer and lover of the ocean and forests. With a social work background in trauma I have found my living forward movement as a somatic neuro-psychotherapist in the field of trauma. Current neuroscience informs all the somatic practices I offer along with Focusing, Internal Family Systems and somatic movement practice.

Hi, we’re Giselle and Andreanna.
We have both experienced our own traumas and health challenges. We have been where you are. In our courses, we don’t just teach you the information, we share our experiences and what has worked for us.

What most interests me in trauma healing is bridging the disconnection that happens when the brain and nervous system have adapted to trauma.
